When “I already understand everything” becomes the blind spot
Daniel · Corporate executive

Full Story
Daniel, a senior executive at a multinational company, was sharp, logical, and had clear answers for everything. But lately, his team meetings had fallen silent—everyone waited for his instructions, afraid to think for themselves.
He realized: his excessive “clarity” was suffocating his team’s ability to think. He had never actually asked them, “What do you think?”
During a weekly meeting, a junior member offered a raw idea. Suppressing his instinct to correct, Daniel paused and said, “I hadn’t thought of that angle. Tell me more.” The room went quiet for a second. Then that person continued, growing more confident, and others joined in.
He no longer needed to have all the answers himself. True leadership, he discovered, is making space for others to find theirs.
